Moneyshot consisted of students (myself included) studying an academic sandwich year at IBM Hursley, just outside Winchester back in 2002. I responded to a forum post from guitarist Jordan Humber who was wanting to form a band. Although I was a 'bit older', I was accepted and a complete band was quickly formed playing a mixture of excellent original songs and some pop/rock covers of the time from bands such as Ash, Nickleback, Blink 182, The Ataris and the like. We all bunked a day off and went to a studio to record 'The Dirty Sanchez' EP, a recording I am still proud of today. We gigged mainly at 'The Railway Inn' in Winchester but also travelled to Glastonbury to play a pre-festival event, did a wedding and finally performed to a set to corporates at the Portsmouth Guild Hall (the night before 'The Who' sold it out).
I was strangely only ever known as 'Rob' by the lads, we had only great times and when our time at IBM was over, we parted ways but what we achieved during a short period was certainly a highlight of my musical journey. When I said goodbye to the singer Craig, he hugged me told me that when he grows up, he wanted to be just like me! Well, bless him....
Jordan Humber continues to play and record as well as being a guitar teacher. I have no idea what the other lads are up to but I certainly hope that they are well and that they might read this one day...x
