Roadkill were a high energy 3-piece covers band specializing in, and I believe the early pioneers of, spinning current pop songs with a rock edge. Roadkill played all over the country and highlights were a 'stadium' gig at the Bradford Bulls then ground, being part of the Otley Xmas Lights Switch On and a great slot at the 2012 Otley Fake Festival. Roadkill were the only true covers band to play The Fake Festivals but we smashed it and were asked back the following year. I left Roadkill after a 10 year plus run to concentrate on Black Tiger and although they continued with the lovely Sam Greaves on drums for a short while, they disbanded entirely shortly afterwards.
Better than most bands on the circuit at the time, Roadkill struggled to get the recognition they deserved, which remains a mystery to me to this day.
Roadkill produced one live demo 'Flat on the Road'. The guitarist Daz can still be found playing with his current band 'Backburner'
Roadkill were:I still meet up for beers with Tigger and bump into Daz now and again and we always reminisce fondly about our Roadkill days!! So many kebab shop and drunken audience member stories to tell, if ever what being in a band was supposed to be like.....this was it, for me anyway!!
