Under Lock and Key

Under Lock and Key were my first band - I auditioned for them during a rehearsal I was attending with my brother - I played 'Breaking The Law' whilst their drummer at the time 'Jock' went to the toilet. My brother bought me a drum kit and the rest is history. The band had reasonable success and recorded a couple of demos and they eventually went on to record an album after I had left. We did a UK tour supporting the incredible 'Last Of The Teenage Idols' and supported a few high profile bands including 'Skin' as well as getting some airplay on the 'Radio 1 Rock Show' with Tommy Vance.

Originally, the band were called 'The Gunslingers' and played their first gigs at Otley Civic Centre and the 'The Duck N Drake' in Leeds, long before it even had a stage. Original guitarist Martin Phillips was replaced by ex 'Rough Justice' guitarist Simon Shagouri and the band renamed themselves after a popular Dokken album 'Under Lock and Key'. Under Lock and Key never disbanded officially but I left along with Andy Myers and Sid and went on to form an off-shoot called 'Coup De Grace' with guitarist 'Keith Simon' and bass play Loz 'The Driving Force' Baldwin. We recorded a demo and played a few gigs whilst Under Lock and Key continued with a new drummer and singer Gaz (RIP).
